The transfer came after the officer&#8217;s name surfaced widely on social media in connection with the FBI case.<\/p>\n<p>Punjab Police has also ordered a departmental inquiry into the matter. The Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Jalandhar Range, has assigned the investigation to the Superintendent of Police (Investigation), Jalandhar Rural.<\/p>\n<p>According to senior police officials, the inquiry will examine the allegations mentioned in the FBI investigation and verify the facts. Further legal and departmental action will be taken based on the findings of the probe.<\/p>\n<p>The FBI had recently alleged in a US federal indictment that a Punjab Police officer assisted members of an organised crime syndicate in extortion and fabricating criminal cases.
