New Delhi: All India Congress Committee (AICC) Social Media Chairperson Supriya Shrinate on Friday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of blocking the screening of the film Satluj, alleging that the ruling party feared the “bitter truth” depicted in the movie.<\/p>\n
Addressing a press conference in the presence of Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, Shrinate questioned the BJP’s silence over the controversy.<\/p>\n
“Why is the BJP silent? They must be afraid because perhaps their own dark deeds could also come to light,” she said.<\/p>\n
Responding to a question on whether the release of Satluj had revived memories of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, Shrinate said the Congress had always acknowledged that the riots were wrong.<\/p>\n
She said Rahul Gandhi had personally visited Sri Darbar Sahib to perform sewa and maintained that the Congress had consistently opposed violence. She also highlighted that the Congress had given India its first Sikh President and first Sikh Prime Minister.<\/p>\n
Shrinate said the party remained committed to Punjab’s shared cultural heritage and religious traditions.<\/p>\n
Targeting the BJP and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) over allegations of misuse of donations at the Ayodhya Ram Temple, she said Prime Minister Narendra Modi could not distance himself from the issue after taking credit for the temple project.<\/p>\n
“When you sidelined everyone, including the Shankaracharyas, to claim exclusive credit, you cannot remain silent now,” she said.<\/p>\n
Shrinate further alleged that any misuse of temple donations amounted to a betrayal of the faith and trust of millions of Hindus who had contributed to the construction of the Ram Temple.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
