Chandigarh: A shocking case of alleged negligence has surfaced at Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital in Faridkot, where the body of an unidentified patient was allegedly dumped outside the hospital premises after he died during treatment.<\/p>\n
Following the incident, the hospital administration retrieved the body and shifted it to the mortuary. A house surgeon has been suspended with immediate effect, and a departmental inquiry has been ordered.<\/p>\n
According to officials, Ferozepur Police had admitted an unidentified injured man to the hospital about a week ago. He was undergoing treatment in the surgery department but died on Monday night.<\/p>\n
It has been alleged that, on the instructions of a house surgeon posted in the surgery department, hospital employees left the body near Rambagh, outside the hospital campus, instead of following the prescribed procedure.<\/p>\n
The incident came to light after passersby spotted the body and informed Sahara Society president Ashok Bhatnagar. He noticed bandages on the deceased, leading him to suspect that the man had been a hospital patient.<\/p>\n
Police and hospital officials reached the spot soon after being informed. The body was recovered and shifted to the hospital mortuary.<\/p>\n
Ashok Bhatnagar alleged that hospital staff ignored established procedures. He said the body should have been kept in the mortuary and the police informed immediately, particularly as the deceased was unidentified.<\/p>\n
DSP Tarlochan Singh said the body has been preserved in the mortuary and efforts are underway to establish the deceased’s identity. Further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.<\/p>\n
Medical Superintendent Dr Neetu Kukkar confirmed that a departmental inquiry committee has been constituted.
