Sensex and Nifty set new records in early trade

Mumbai: Both benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty hit new all-time highs in early trade today on the back of a firm trend in international markets, buying in banking stocks and foreign fund inflows. The rally in the local stock market continued for the fifth consecutive session.

The 30-share BSE Sensex rose 280.32 points to hit a new all-time high of 77,581.46 in early trade. At the same time, the Nifty of the National Stock Exchange rose 72.95 points to a new record level of 23,630.85.
