Warring condemns attempts to place Kesari flag against tricolor

Punjab E News:-  Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring today exhorted upon the party workers to be battle ready and accept any challenge that is thrown at them and the party.

He also condemned the attempts by certain vested interests to place the holy Kesari flag against the national tricolor saying such forces need to be defeated as they were enemies of Punjab.

The PCC president also felicitated 75 party workers who were 75 years old and above for their unfailing loyalty and dedication towards the party, saying they were the unsung heroes of the Congress who had fought against all odds to keep the party flag flying high.

He congratulated and thanked the party workers across the state for making the Tiranga Yatra a great success. He disclosed that the yatra touched every nook and corner with 2000 kms covered in 6 days in all the 117 assembly segments.

Warring lashed out those elements who had opposed hoisting of the national flag on the occasion of Independence Day today. He condemned their attempts to put the Kesari flag against the national flag.

“Kesari is in our blood and soul and we bow to the Kesari flag, the Nishan Sahib every morning and evening whenever we go to a Gurdwara Sahib and it has no parallels and comparisons”, Warring said, while adding, “to bring our holy Kesari flag in comparison with any other flag is sacrilegious”.

He said, the national flag is unfurled on special and particular occasions like the Independence Day and the Republic Day, while the Kesari flag always flies high round the clock, round the year. “Those trying to create controversies on the issue were only trying to get the oxygen of publicity”, he remarked.

The PCC president also lashed out at the Bharatiya Janata Party for trying to create fake hype around the Independence Day. “Will they teach us nationalism who did not unfurl the national flag on their headquarters”, he asked while referring to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, which unfurled the national flag on its headquarters at Nagpur, as late as, in 2002.

Taking a jibe at those who are trying to threaten Congress workers with jails by misuse of the agencies like the Enforcement Directorate, the Income Tax, the CBI and the state vigilance department, the PCC president said, the Congress workers and leaders are not scared of such intimidation. “We will fight all these intimidating forces whether at the centre or in the state with our determination and strength”, he said amidst a thundering applause.

Speaking on the occasion, former Deputy Chief Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa ridiculed those who were trying to teach nationalism and patriotism to the Congress party. He disclosed that the Congress party organized a tiranga yatra during the peak of terrorism even losing several workers to the bullets of the terrorists.

He also had a dig at the Aam Aadmi Party government telling them that their claims of revolution were baseless as real revolution was ushered in by the Congress against the British. He also exhorted upon the Congressmen to fight any excess or intimidation by the government with strength and perseverance saying the party will always stand by them.

Fatehgarh Sahib MP Dr Amar Singh recalled the contribution of the great leaders of the country like Mahatma Gandhi, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Sardar Patel, Dr BR Ambedkar and others who gave us a great democratic legacy.

Prominent among those present included the general secretary in-charge of PCC Capt Sandeep Singh Sandhu and others.
