8-year-old child crushed to death by school van in Fatehgarh

Chandigarh: In Baladi Khurd village of Fatehgarh Sahib, a school van tragically struck and killed an innocent child. The family members of the deceased became enraged and staged a sit-in at the school, demanding justice.

Meanwhile, the police asserted that they had detained the van driver and conductor and registered a case. The victim, 8-year-old Jaskirat Singh, was a kindergarten student at Garden Valley International School in Kotla Bajwara.

According to the child’s uncle, Gurvinder Singh, the van had arrived to drop off the children from school. As Harkirat and her elder sister alighted from the van, the driver began to move the vehicle.

Harkirat’s sister managed to jump clear, escaping harm, but tragically, Harkirat was caught beneath the van’s front tires. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, the child was pronounced dead.
