ANOTHER ACCUSED ARRESTED IN GUAVA TREE COMPENSATION SCAM BY VIGILANCE BUREAU
Punjab News: The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB), during its ongoing crackdown against corruption in the state, has arrested another accused in the illegal compensation scam involving planting of guava trees in village Bakarpur of SAS Nagar (Mohali) district.
Disclosing this here today, an official spokesperson of the state VB said that the arrested person has been identified as Advocate Rohit Sharma, who is a son of Shiv Kumar, PCS ( Retd.). Shiv Kumar got retired in February 2020 and has remained posted as LAC, GMADA in year 2015-16.
The spokesperson further said that accused Rohit’s wife Bharti has obtained wrongful compensation about Rs. 80 lakh in lieu of Guava plants on 4 kanal land at Village Bakarpur. They have purchased this land in year 2017.
The VB has produced him before the duty magistrate, Mohali and the court has further send him to four days of police custody.
Meanwhile, in this multi-crore scam, the VB has now arrested a total of 16 accused. The investigation in this case is underway.
