Child trafficking racket busted in MP: Five arrested including kingpin woman from Punjab
Madhya Pradesh: The Madhya Pradesh Police has busted a gang involved in child trafficking in the state and arrested five persons so far, while a search is on for the woman doctor suspected in the case. The matter came to light when two minor girls were abducted from a temple in Bhopal during Navratri. After the incident, the police swung into action and over 200 CCTV cameras were scanned for the next three days.
The war-footed investigation led the police to the English Villas Society, a prime residential society located in the Kolar area of Bhopal. During the raid, the police rescued the two minor girls. The police have arrested five accused identified as Archan Saini (36), her live-in partners Nishant (31), Suraj (19) and Muskan (20).
During interrogation, the police found that the group had been smuggling children for the past few years and was associated with another Delhi-based gang.
The main accused in the case, Archana Saini, hails from Punjab while her live-in accomplice Nishant is a resident of Karala, police said. On an average, 32 children went missing every day in Madhya Pradesh in 2022, according to a report by NGO Child Rights.
