Cop crushed to death by car in Muktsar

Chandigarh: Charanjit Singh (50), an employee of APHG at Labi police station in Punjab’s Muktsar, was fatally struck by a car late Sunday evening.

He died at the scene, and the driver fled, abandoning the vehicle. The police have retrieved the body and placed it in the mortuary. A case has been registered against the unidentified driver.

Charanjit Singh is survived by his wife, Amarjeet Kaur, and two sons aged between 20 and 25 years old. According to reports, the Samyukta Kisan Morcha had organized a sit-in at the toll plaza on the Delhi-Fazilka highway to advocate for their demands.

Consequently, vehicles were allowed to pass toll-free, while Police Constable Charanjit Singh, stationed at the protest site, was on duty at the checkpoint to ensure smooth traffic flow.
