Deputy Superintendent arrested for helping inmates in jail

The Special Task Force (STF) has arrested Balbir Singh, deputy superintendent of Goindwal Sahib Central Jail, for helping in supplying mobile phones to inmates lodged in the jail. 

A case has been registered against Balbir Singh on the directions of the court and he has been taken on police remand.

A few days ago, the Vigilance Bureau had arrested Harpreet Singh, the warder of the fugitive Central Jail Amritsar, in a bribery case. Harpreet had taken Rs 80,000 as bribe from the jail inmate on the pretext of registering a case of recovery of a mobile phone.

 A corruption case was registered against warder Harpreet Singh on this charge.
