Gangsters injured after brief encounter in Jagraon
Punjabenews: Two youths, who had come to collect ransom from a Jagraon-based businessman in the name of Canada-based gangster Arsh Dala, who was recently declared a terrorist by the country’s Home Ministry, got into an encounter with the police here.
In the firing by the police, one of the accused riding a motorcycle was shot in the leg, while the other escaped from the spot. In Nehru Market here, a ransom of Rs 30 lakh was demanded in the name of Arsh Dala on the phone from the brothers of wholesale grocery traders.
When the two motorcycle-borne accused came on the road leading to the highway from village Kothe Khanjuran bypass at the designated place to pay the ransom amount, the police had already jumped there. CIA staff, led by a police officer, were in a nakabandi in the area, as soon as two men on a motorcycle came to collect the ransom amount, the police surrounded them.
The accused, who sustained bullet injuries, has been taken to jagraon civil hospital for treatment.
According to the information received, the accused who was shot in the leg is Jagtar Singh, who belongs to a village near Talwandi Bhai.
