HC issues notice to Punjab government on former MLA Simarjit Bains’s plea
Chandigarh News: The Punjab and Haryana High Court has issued notices to the Punjab government and other respondents on a petition filed by former MLA Simarjit Bains, who is facing rape charges. Simarjit Singh Bains filed the petition stating that the police have not followed the order properly and he has not received the information sought. He has also appealed that the proceedings against him be stopped in this case.
On July 10 last year, the District Court of Ludhiana had ordered registration of an FIR against Simarjit Singh Bains on the complaint of a woman. As per the order, an FIR was lodged against Simarjit Bains at Ludhiana Division-6 police station.
He was declared a proclaimed offender by the court for not attending the trial in the case and Bains surrendered before the court on July 11.
