Jalandhar police conduct two encounters in 15 hours, arrest five in grenade attack case
Jalandhar: Rural Police conducted two encounters in the last 15 hours in connection with a grenade attack on YouTuber Navdeep Singh Sandhu, also known as Roger Sandhu.
The first encounter took place near Raipur Ballan in the morning, while the second was carried out near Chudwali in Adampur late at night.
In the first encounter, police fired back after the accused opened fire, injuring some of them. Later at night, four individuals, including a woman, were arrested following the second encounter. A separate FIR is being registered, police said.
During the morning encounter, police shot gangster Hardik Kamboj, 21, a resident of Yamunanagar, Haryana. The second accused is yet to be identified.
SSP Gurmeet Singh said that Hardik Kamboj had been arrested earlier in connection with the grenade attack, leading to the arrest of Amitpreet Singh, a resident of Kapurthala, from Himachal Pradesh. Two other accomplices were also taken into custody, along with a woman.
“The accused, Amitpreet Singh, attempted to flee after getting out of the car, forcing police to open fire,” said SSP Gurmeet Singh. “According to the investigation, Hardik Kamboj was the one who launched the grenade, while Amitpreet Singh was riding the bike. The accused had conducted a recce of Roger Sandhu before the attack. No weapons have been recovered so far.”
The woman has been identified as Laxmi, a resident of Khambra, while Amitpreet Singh’s two accomplices have been identified as Dheeraj and Pandey. Police said the woman’s role remains suspicious. A total of five arrests have been made in the case.
