JALANDHAR RURAL POLICE RECOVERS ₹21.57L FOR CYBER FRAUD VICTIMS

Jalandhar News : In a significant achievement, the Cyber Cell of Jalandhar Rural Police has refunded ₹21.57 lakh to three victims of cyber fraud in separate cases, underlining the importance of timely reporting in such incidents.

    The refunds were facilitated under a special drive against cyber fraud initiated by SP Investigation Jasroop Kaur Bath, IPS. The operation was executed by a team led by Inspector Arshpreet Kaur under the supervision of DSP Rashpal Singh, PPS.

    In the first case, Sanjeev Gupta, a resident of Arjan Nagar, Ladowali Road, Jalandhar, was defrauded of ₹7.50 lakh. The Cyber Cell team, led by Inspector Arshpreet Kaur under the supervision of DSP Rashpal Singh, managed to freeze ₹5,40,517 of the fraudulent amount. The amount was refunded following investigations conducted under FIR No. 01 dated 01.07.2024, registered under Sections 420 IPC and 66-D of the IT Act.

    In the second case, Sanjeev Mahindru, a resident of Seth Hukum Chand Colony, Jalandhar, was defrauded of ₹14.16 lakh. The Cyber Cell team traced and froze the entire amount, which was subsequently refunded to the victim.

    In the third case, Gagandeep Kaur, a resident of village Kadiyana, Police Station Adampur, was defrauded of ₹2 lakh. Upon receiving a sapurdari order from the court earlier today, the Cyber Cell team refunded the amount to the complainant.

    Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh said that the first hour after a cyber fraud—referred to as the Golden Hour—is critical for freezing fraudulent transactions and recovering stolen funds. Citizens are urged to report cybercrime promptly by calling 1930 or filing complaints at cybercrime.gov.in to ensure timely action.

    “Jalandhar Rural Police has refunded ₹52,31,915 to cyber fraud victims in 2024. The public is advised to remain vigilant while conducting online transactions and report any suspicious activities to safeguard themselves from financial losses,” said SSP Khakh.
