Ludhiana court awards death penalty to two for raping 7-year-old

Chandigarh: A Ludhiana court has delivered a historic verdict in the rape and murder case of a seven-year-old girl. A Ludhiana court has awarded death penalty to two accused in the rape and murder case of a seven-year-old girl.

The sentence was pronounced by the fast track special POCSO court of Additional Sessions court. A case was registered against the accused in 2019.
According to the case, the seven-year-old girl, a resident of Doraha district of Ludhiana, was abducted by a 25-year-old man in 2019 on the pretext of buying candy, but later along with his accomplice, the girl was raped and then brutally murdered.
At present, the court has now sentenced both the accused to death under Section 302 of the IPC and Section 6 of the POCSO Act.
