Murtaza Abbas sentenced to death for attack on Gorakhnath temple
Punjabenews: An NIA court has pronounced the quantum of punishment against Murtaza Abbas, who attacked the Gorakhnath temple in Gorakhpur. The court sentenced Murtaza to death. Murtaza was booked under the UAPA and was considered a terrorist.
Terrorist Murtaza Abbas was brought to the NIA/ATS court in Lucknow under tight security for a hearing on Monday. It had attacked the Gorakhnath temple in April 2022.
ADG Law and Order Prashant Kumar said, “The quantum of punishment has been announced today after a record hearing for 60 consecutive days. It carries the death penalty under Section 121 IPC and life imprisonment under Section 307, which was an attack on the police.”
The ADG said, “All the evidence was presented well before the court, the court considered the evidence to be correct. This shows that the police investigation was correct. A conspiracy hatched against the country by the UP Police has been busted.”
