Over 15 cops and several civilians killed by militants in Russia’s Dagestan
Moscow: Armed militants have killed more than 15 policemen, priests and several civilians in Russia’s southern Dagestan region, officials said.
Dagestan Governor Sergei Melikov said in a video statement early this morning that gunmen opened fire on two Orthodox churches, a Jewish place of worship and a police checkpoint. Russia’s National Anti-Terrorism Committee said the attacks took place in a Muslim-majority region with a history of armed extremism.
