Posing as CIA staff extort money from people in Punjab, suspended cop among three held

Jalandhar: Three persons have been arrested for posing as police officers and extorting money in Punjab’s Jalandhar district, police said on Friday. The police of Shahkot police station have arrested the above accused from Shahkot area.

They have been identified as Raja of Kapurthala, Davinder Singh of Dhuddiwal in Kapurthala and Harjinder Singh of Tibba police station Talwandi Chaudhary Kapurthala. Police have registered a case against all of them and further investigation is underway. The main accused in all three is Raja.

He was SHO in Punjab Police and was last posted in Kapurthala district. But the department had already suspended Raja in a corruption case.

The accused used to extort money from people by posing as employees of CIA staff Kapurthala. Three similar cases have been registered against them earlier.
