Principal dies after ex-student pours petrol on her in college in Madhya Pradesh

Indore: A 54-year-old woman principal, who was set on fire by an alumnus five days ago in the premises of a private pharmacy college in Indore, died during treatment in the wee hours today, police said.

Ashutosh Srivastava (24), an alumnus of BM College of Pharmacy located in Simrol police station area, was arrested on February 20 by the college principal Dr. Vimukta Sharma (54) was burnt to death by pouring petrol on its premises.
She was 80 per cent burnt. Srivastava was arrested on the day of the incident and is currently in police custody. The district administration has registered a case under the National Security Act (NSA).
On the basis of the principal’s statement, a case was registered against Srivastava under section 307 (attempt to murder) of the IPC and section 302 (murder) has been added to it after the death of the principal.
