Punjabi couple jailed for forcing relative to work in US

Washington: An Indian-American couple has been sentenced to jail by a US court for forcing relative to work at their gas station and department store for more than three years on the pretext of enrolling in school.

Harmanpreet Singh (31) was sentenced to 135 months (11.25 years) and Kulbir Kaur (43) to 87 months (7.25 years). They have also been asked to pay a compensation of around Rs 1.87 crore to his cousin and the victim.
