Rs 19 crore looted from Punjab National Bank branch in Manipur
Masked armed robbers looted Rs 18.80 crore from a state-run bank in Manipur’s Ukhrul district, police said on Friday. This branch of Punjab National Bank is a ‘currency chest’ for Ukhrul district, where cash is stored by the Reserve Bank of India for roar banks and ATMs. On Thursday evening, the robbers, armed with sophisticated weapons, reached the bank in Ukhrul town, about 80 km from Imphal. They overpowered the security personnel, threatened the bank employees and looted money from the safe.
