Sacrilege case: Dera followers move Supreme Court to take case out of Punjab
Punjabenews: The Dera followers have approached the Supreme Court seeking transfer of three criminal cases related to the sacrilege case out of Punjab in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Faridkot.
Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh and five other Dera followers have filed an application in the Supreme Court, saying there is a threat to their lives in Punjab and Dera followers cannot fight their case freely in the courts of Punjab.
The petition filed by the Dera followers in the apex court has said that Mohinderpal Bittu, an accused named in the sacrilege case, has been murdered in jail during the custody of the court and Pradeep Singh was shot dead at his shop in Kotkapura two months ago.
Based on these incidents, the lives of the other accused are also being threatened. The supreme court is likely to hear the petition filed by dera followers on January 30.
