SAS Nagar Police foiled armed robbery. Arrested two accused within 48 hours of crime
32 caliber pistol along with 5 live cartridges & skoda vehicle used in crime recovered
SAS Nagar: In the drive launched against crime, SAS Nagar Police got a major breakthrough when a team of Zirakpur police under the supervision of Sh. Navreet Singh Virk, PPS SP(R), SAS Nagar and guidance of Sh. Bikramjit Singh Brar PPS, DSP SD Zirakpur, led by Insp. Simarjeet Singh, SHO PS Zirakpur arrested both accused involved in Robbery/snatching of Rs 1.2 lakhs & other valuable items from a 52 year old banker at Zirakpur, within 48 hours, said Sh Sandeep Garg IPS, SSP, SAS Nagar.
Providing further details, SSP said that on friday, an SBI bank employee named Vikas Sharma who was waiting to board a bus from Peerwala Chownk chat lights was robbed of money & other valuable items by two unknown criminals who offered him lift in a white Skoda car. The robbers made him transfer Rs 1 lakh through UPI & then took him to an ATM in Dashmesh Nagar on gun point, where they withdrew Rs 20000. Before fleeing, the duo also snatched his purse, mobile phones and gold rings while leaving him on a deserted place.
After registering a case under sections 379-B, 382, 506 & 34 of IPC & 25 of Arms Act, Zirakpur Police identified one of the accused as Nitin Kumar s/o Vinesh Kumar r/o Abohar, Fazilka, a history sheeter who has over 5 criminal cases on him related to snatching, attempt to murder, NDPS and illigal arms related offences.
On 01.03.23, acting on a tip off, the police team arrested Nitin Kumar along with his other associate Amit Kumar s/o Nathu Ram r/o Abohar from Sigma City, Zirakpur. A.32 caliber pistol along with 5 live cartridges and Skoda vehicle used in the crime has also been recovered. Further investigation is in process.
