Trying to escape to Canada, Jagraon woman arrested from Delhi airport in dowry case
New Delhi: The police of Jagraon police station in Hathur have arrested a woman accused from Delhi Airport for conspiracy and a dowry case. The accused woman was attempting to escape back to Canada after the case was registered.
Upon learning of this, the police promptly apprehended the accused woman at the airport and presented her in court. The accused woman has been identified as Sandeep Kaur.
ASI Manohar Singh said that recently, the police in Hathur station had registered a case against three individuals, including an NRI groom, on charges of conspiracy and dowry demand based on a complaint. The accused have been identified as Sukhjeet Singh, Harminder Kaur, and Sandeep Kaur.
A man driven by greed for dowry hatched a conspiracy with his family to immigrate to Canada, resulting in the ruin of a girl’s life. The accused married an NRI solely to facilitate their move to Canada as part of the scheme.
Upon reaching Canada, the accused husband rejected his wife over dowry and initiated a relationship with another woman.
Furthermore, the accused, along with their family, continually demanded money from the victim from Canada and subjected her to dowry harassment.
Upon learning of this, the victim’s father filed a complaint with the police. Based on the statements provided by the victim’s father, the police registered a case against the victim’s husband, mother-in-law, and a female intermediary at Hathur police station.
The victim’s father, Mandar Singh, a resident of village Dalla, stated to the police that his daughter went to Canada to join her brother in 2015 after completing her BSc.
The accused Sandeep Kaur was acquainted with his family through academic circles, which allowed her to become familiar with the family. Subsequently, the accused informed her son about the possibility of his sister’s marriage to her nephew.
