Vigilance Bureau arrested Head Constable posted at Jalandhar for taking Rs 2,100 bribe online

Punjab News: The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its anti-corruption campaign on Wednesday, nabbed a Head Constable Raghunath Singh (2824/Jalandhar), posted at police station, Bhargo Camp, Jalandhar city for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 2,100 in two instalments.

  Disclosing this here today, a spokesperson of the VB said the above said Head Constable has been arrested on  complaint of Mohit Singh, resident of village Raiwala, in Dehrudun district, Uttarakhand who have lodged a complaint on the Chief Minister’s Anti Corruption Action Line to taking a bribe.

  Giving details he added that the said complainant has alleged in his online complaint that the above said police official had taken Rs 2,100 in two instalments as a bribe to forward viscera of his deceased sister for getting report from State Chemical Examiner Laboratory, Kharar. The complainant further alleged that the accused police personnel had asked him to remit the bribe money online and he had transferred Rs 100 and Rs 2000 in two instalments through PhonePay into his bank account.

  The spokesperson informed that the VB range Jalandhar has investigated the complaint and the arrested the accused police official after finding him guilty for taking a bribe of Rs 2,100 online from the complainant.

    In this regard a case under section Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused police personnel at VB police station Jalandhar range. He would be produced in the competent court tomorrow. Further investigation in this case was under progress.
