Vigilance starts probing case against former Health Secretary Ajoy Sharma, seeks record

Punjabenews: The Punjab Vigilance has started cracking the whip against former Health Secretary Ajoy Sharma. The Punjab Vigilance Bureau has initiated an investigation into a private laboratory attached to mohalla clinics in Punjab, police said.

Apart from this, the Vigilance summoned the records from the MD of Punjab Health Corporation. The inquiry has been initiated after the Punjab Chief Secretary received complaints.
The files of former health secretary Ajoy Sharma are being dug up by the chief secretary’s office following orders from Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to the chief secretary, sources in the vigilance said.
Along with this, the investigation of the Health Secretary, who was a few years ago in the Health Department, was also started. Appointments made by Ajoy Sharma to the state health agency are also under lense.
There is also reports of irregularities during the appointment process.
Yesterday, a bunch of complaints against Ajoy Sharma reached the Chief Secretary office. The case can be handed over to the ED after a thorough examination. A probe has been initiated into the role of IAS officers who have served in the Punjab State Health Corporation, officials said.
