Amritsar youth dies of heart attack while attempting illegal journey to US

Chandigarh: A 33-year-old man from Ramdas town in Ajnala tehsil, Amritsar, died near Guatemala while attempting to enter the United States illegally. The deceased, Gurpreet Singh, was traveling via the ‘Donki route’ in hopes of improving his family’s financial condition.

Singh, the only brother of six sisters, had left for the US three months ago through an agent.

During the journey, he suffered a fatal heart attack near Guatemala. A fellow traveler informed his family of his death over the phone, leaving them devastated.

This incident comes amid rising concerns over illegal immigration, with the US recently deporting 104 Indians and preparing another list of deportees. Despite the risks, many continue to attempt dangerous routes to reach the US.
