CBSE to bar students with irregular attendance from class 12 board exams
New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided to bar students who do not attend school regularly from appearing for class 12 board exams, officials said.
A senior official said that students found absent during surprise inspections by the board will not be allowed to take the exams. The responsibility also lies with parents and students who take dummy admissions, the official added.
As part of its crackdown on dummy schools, CBSE is considering amending examination bye-laws to prevent such students from appearing for board exams. Instead, they will have to take the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) examination.
Schools promoting the dummy culture or sponsoring absentee students will face action under the board’s accreditation and examination bye-laws, the official said.
