Four Punjabis deported from US, sent to Amritsar for further investigation

Chandigarh: Four Punjabis were deported from the United States to Amritsar as part of the US government’s crackdown on undocumented immigrants.

The deportees were identified as Jatinder Singh from Kanshu Kalan, Patiala; Maninder Dutt from Chandpur, Jalandhar; Jugraj Singh from Chuharpur, Gurdaspur; and Harpreet Singh from Cheema, Gurdaspur.

According to reports, a total of 12 individuals were deported, including these four Punjabis. They traveled from Panama to Delhi via Istanbul before being flown to Amritsar on a domestic flight.

Upon arrival, the Immigration Department conducted document verification before handing them over to the police and Intelligence Bureau for further investigation.

Authorities confirmed that the deportees were then sent to their respective district police stations before being released to their families. A senior police official verified the process.

It has been reported that deportees from the US are now being routed through Panama before being repatriated. The return of these 12 individuals was facilitated by an NGO, which provided them with return air tickets.

Earlier, 333 Indian nationals, including over 100 Punjabis, were deported from the US via three US Air Force cargo planes to Sri Guru Ramdas Ji International Airport in Amritsar.

The Punjab government had objected to this, with Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann raising concerns with the Ministry of External Affairs and the Ministry of Home Affairs, calling the move an attempt to defame Punjab.
