Immigration authorities thwart fraudulent travel attempts at IGI Airport, man arrested with fake Visa
New Delhi: In the midst of increasing incidents of fraudulent attempts to travel abroad, immigration authorities at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport intercepted a passenger attempting to fly to Italy with a forged visa.
The accused, identified as Sandeep, hailing from Deewana village in Kurukshetra district, Haryana, was caught during a routine counter check at Terminal 3.
Immigration officials noticed that the visa on his passport did not meet security standards. Upon further inspection, the visa was confirmed to be counterfeit.
Sandeep was promptly stopped from boarding his flight and handed over to the police. Following a formal complaint by immigration authorities, IGI Thana Police have registered an FIR against him on charges of cheating and other related offenses. The investigation is ongoing.
In a separate incident, two passengers from Mehsana district, Gujarat, were arrested at IGI Airport after returning from Kathmandu. Upon inspection, immigration officers discovered that several pages of their passports were missing, raising suspicions of foul play.
It is suspected that the missing pages were an attempt to conceal a visa from another country. The matter was immediately reported to the police, and both passengers were detained for further questioning. The investigation continues as authorities seek to uncover the full extent of the alleged fraud.
