Lok Sabha passes Immigration and Foreign Citizens Bill, 2025

New Delhi: The Lok Sabha on Wednesday passed the Immigration and Foreign Citizens Bill, 2025, which aims to regulate the entry, exit, and stay of foreigners in India. The bill was introduced on March 11 to streamline various services related to migration and foreign nationals.

During the discussion, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that the government would take strict action against those entering India with the intention of causing harm, including Rohingyas and Bangladeshis.

He said that India is “not a dharamshala” and that authorities will track the movement and purpose of all foreigners arriving in the country.

The opposition has criticized the bill, calling it a violation of the Constitution.
