Panjab University PhD students among three killed in car accident on Siswan Road in Mohali

Chandigarh: Three people, including a young woman, died, and another was critically injured in a car accident on Siswan Road in Mohali, Punjab, on Sunday night.

The deceased have been identified as Shubham Jattawal, a PhD scholar in forensic science at Panjab University (PU); Rubina, who was employed in an unspecified role; and Saurabh Pandey, a 2023 graduate from PU’s Human Genome Department who was associated with PGI.

The lone survivor, Manvendra, a research scholar in forensic science at PU, sustained serious injuries and remains in critical condition.

According to eyewitnesses, the speeding car lost control after hitting a speed breaker, causing it to overturn multiple times. There were four occupants in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

The bodies of the deceased have been sent to the mortuary at Civil Hospital in Mohali Phase 6. Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
