PSEB class 8 and 12 exams begin today, special measures in place
Chandigarh:The annual examinations for Class 8 and Class 12 under the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) begin today, February 19.
A total of 2,579 examination centers have been set up across the state, with over 8.82 lakh students appearing for the exams.
The exams for Class 10 are scheduled to begin on March 10. To prevent question paper leaks, a special tracking system has been introduced.
The question papers will be opened in the presence of students at the examination center, and their signatures will be taken as verification.
To ensure cheating-free examinations, special flying teams have been deployed for surprise checks. If any case of mass copying is detected, departmental action will be taken against the staff posted at that center, and all examination expenses will be charged to their accounts.
Additionally, if a case of cheating is reported, the center superintendent’s wages will be withheld until the matter is resolved.
Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh stated that the government has made proper arrangements for the exams and extended his best wishes to students.
Control room set up for students’ concerns
According to PSEB, 3,02,189 students are appearing for the Class 8 examination, while 2,84,658 students are taking the Class 10 exam, and 2,72,105 students are appearing for Class 12.
A total of 2,579 superintendents and 3,269 deputy superintendents have been appointed for monitoring.
A control room has been established at the board’s main office (0172-5227136, 137, 138) to oversee the examinations. Complaints received at the control room will be addressed on a priority basis.
