Punjab and Haryana high court orders crackdown on illegal immigration
Chandigarh: The Punjab and Haryana High Court has directed the state government to curb illegal immigration within a month.
The court ordered action against illegal travel agents to prevent the use of the Dunki route for migration from Punjab to the US.
The directive follows a petition filed by advocate Kanwal Pahul Singh, who highlighted the deportation of a large number of Punjabis from the US.
A bench comprising Chief Justice Sheel Nagu and Justice Harmeet Singh Grewal advised the petitioner to present his grievance to the government.
The court mandated the state to take a decision within 30 days and report the measures taken. Following this, the petition was disposed of.
