Rs 130.75 crore sanctioned for the construction of 1741 new classrooms in 1294 schools in Punjab: Harjot Singh Bains
Punjabenews: In consonance with the commitment of the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to make Punjab a leading state in the field of education, Punjab education department has sanctioned Rs 130.75 crore for the construction of 1741 new classrooms in 1294 schools of the state to further strengthen the infrastructure of government schools.
Disclosing this here today, the School Education Minister, Harjot Singh Bains said that out of the sanctioned grant, an amount of Rs. 52.23 crore has been transferred to the districts through e-transfer as the first installment.
Bains said that the health and education are key priority sectors of the Mann government and under this, the state government has taken myriad of initiatives to robust the school infrastructure and to provide separate rooms for each class, aiming to offer better atmosphere to students for education.
Giving details of new classrooms to be constructed in the state, Cabinet Minister said that 251 classrooms will be constructed in 191 schools of District Amritsar, 35 classrooms for 27 schools in Barnala district, 73 classrooms for 48 schools in Bathinda district, 51 classrooms for 37 schools of Faridkot district, 6 classrooms for 5 schools of District Fatehgarh Sahib, 221 classrooms for 152 schools of District Fazilka, 93 classrooms for 72 schools of District Ferozepur, 75 classrooms for 61 schools of District Gurdaspur, 96 classrooms for 81 schools of District Hoshiarpur, 25 classrooms for 21 schools of District Jalandhar, 28 classrooms for 23 schools of District Kapurthala, 126 classrooms for 74 schools of District Ludhiana, 19 classrooms for 14 schools of District Malerkotla, 37 classrooms for 28 schools of District Mansa, 24 classrooms for 17 schools of District Moga, 96 classrooms for 69 schools of District Sri Muktsar Sahib, 11 classrooms for 11 schools of District Pathankot, The amount has been sanctioned for construction of 108 classrooms for 89 schools of District Patiala, 41 classrooms for 38 schools of District Rupnagar, 66 classrooms for 46 schools of District Sangrur, 68 classrooms for 44 schools of District Mohali, 78 classrooms for 62 schools of District Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar and 113 classrooms for 84 schools in Tarn Taran district to be constructed.
Minister Bains said that his dream was to improve the quality of school education in Punjab and under this campaign, the school buildings will be reformed and new infrastructure to be built.
He said that in the coming time, attention will also be paid to the improvement of sanitation system in all the schools across the state.
