US deportee arrested, human trafficking charges filed against five
Ludhiana: Gurvinder Singh, who was deported from the US three days ago, has been arrested by Jamalpur police in connection with a snatching case.
A case of cheating and human trafficking has been registered against five individuals, including a former village sarpanch.
The complaint was filed by Gurvinder’s wife, Hardeep Kaur, alleging that the accused fraudulently facilitated his illegal migration to the US.
The FIR was registered under sections 406 (criminal breach of trust), 420 (cheating), 370 (human trafficking), and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code, along with section 24 of the Emigration Act.
The accused have been identified as Charanjit Singh, former sarpanch of Sasrali Colony, Nishant Kumar of Lucknow, Sandeep Kumar of Delhi, and Ravinder Deol and Satnam Singh of Mohali.
Investigating officer ASI Gurbakshish Singh stated that multiple FIRs against Gurvinder Singh in Ludhiana and Faridkot hindered his police clearance for overseas travel.
According to the complaint, Nishant Kumar allegedly took Rs 12 lakh to obtain a new passport for Gurvinder using a fake address in Lucknow.
Hardeep Kaur also claimed that before reaching the US, Gurvinder was routed through other countries, leading to his deportation from those places as well. The accused allegedly took Rs 69 lakh from the family, promising a safe migration route.
