6.2 magnitude earthquake hits China, more than 111 people killed
A strong earthquake was felt in China’s Gansu province late on Monday night. At least 111 people were killed when a 6.2-magnitude earthquake struck China’s Gansu Province and neighboring Qinghai Province on Monday midnight.
A minor earthquake struck the region at 11:59 pm on Monday and the epicentre was located at a depth of 10 km, according to the China Earthquake Networks Centre.
The quake caused extensive damage, including house collapse, and people ran into the streets to safety, state-run Xinhua news agency said.
