7.25 lakh Indians are illegal in US
Punjab E News: The US harbored approximately 725,000 Indian illegal immigrants, marking the third largest gathering of unauthorized immigrants, following Mexico and El Salvador, according to recent estimates from the Pew Research Centre.
By 2021, the nation’s 10.5 million unauthorized immigrants accounted for around three percent of the overall US population and constituted 22 percent of the foreign-born population, as reported by the Washington-based think tank.
From 2007 to 2021, nearly every global region witnessed a significant surge in the count of unauthorized immigrants in the US, notably with the most substantial increases originating from Central America (240,000) and South and East Asia (180,000).
