After fire, New York bound flight forced to return to Toronto
Toronto: The plane flying from Toronto to New York City had to turn around earlier this month after a burning smell emanated from the cockpit.
Endeavour Air flight 48263 departed from Toronto International Airport bound for JFK Airport in New York on the morning of February 3.
However, the plane’s crew declared an emergency, as reported by Canada’s Transportation Safety Board.
There were 74 people on board, all of whom are safe. According to the information received, when the crew of the twin-engine plane attempted to locate the source of the smell, sparks and flames emerged from the windshield heater control unit on the captain’s side.
The crew promptly donned oxygen masks and declared a state of emergency, subsequently requesting permission to return the plane to Toronto. The aircraft landed safely at the airport without incurring any damage.
