Britain: Labour Party gets majority after 14 years; Won 408 out of 650 seats

London: The Labour Party has won the British general election. In the results out of the 650 seats, the Labour Party got 408 seats. To form the government, 326 seats are needed in Parliament. Indian-origin Rishi Sunak’s Conservative Party suffered an embarrassing defeat.

According to the BBC, Labour Party leader Keir Starmer will be Britain’s next prime minister. The counting of votes for the July 4 general election in Britain is underway.

Conservative party’s prime ministerial candidate Rishi Sunak won the Richmond and Northlerton seats. Labour party’s prime ministerial candidate Keir Starmer has won the Holborn and St Pancras seats in London.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak accepted the defeat in the election and said that the opposition Labour Party has won. “The Labour Party has won this general election and I have called Keir Starmer to congratulate him on his victory,” Sunak said after winning his parliamentary seat in northern England.
