Canada beefs up security at airports for flights to India
Toronto: Passengers travelling from Canada to India will soon face more stringent security measures upon their departure from Canadian airports. The decision announced by Transport Minister Anita Anand is part of the new temporary protocol.
New security rules have been introduced by the federal government, following which passengers going to India will be closely monitored and their luggage will also be thoroughly searched by the border officers.
“Transport Canada has implemented temporary additional safety check measures as a precaution,” he said. He stressed on the need to protect the public and maintain the integrity of air travel.
A government official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority has been entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring compliance with the new safety rules.
