Similarly, there has been a 15 per cent increase in the number of robberies and extortions in the 39th century. In the 82nd century, murders were carried out with pistols or guns, while the rest involved sharp weapons and other methods.
According to a report by Statistics Canada, the Violent Crime Severity Index (CSI) rose 5% in 2022, following a 6% increase the previous year. “The increasing trend of criminal incidents shows that we are entering the pre-pandemic period,” said Warren Silver, an analyst at Statistics Canada. During the pandemic, due to the lockdown and other restrictions, violent incidents came down and most of the non-violent crimes were being reported.
Sahil Bhatia, Managing Director of OM Visa and an immigration expert from Jalandhar’s Punjab expressed his concern over incessantly rising crime rate in the Canada in the past a few years. He contributed this rise due to rising inflation, unemployment in the Canada due to massive migration of people including students.
He advised people especially students to stay vigil and not to indulge into any fight with anyone.
“It is evident that Canada is facing recession and unemployment rate is highest level now in the country. It is best for the students to rather study in UK or any other country for a bright future,” he advised people.
