Canadian girl famous for using ‘Hanji Ki Chahida’ among five arrested for extortion in Canada
Toronto: Peel Regional Police’s Extortion Investigative Task Force (EITF) has arrested five individuals in connection with extortion-related incidents targeting South Asian businesses in Brampton and Mississauga.
The arrests are part of an ongoing investigation, conducted in collaboration with law enforcement agencies across Canada.
The suspects, identified as Bandhuman Sekhon (27), Harmanjit Singh (25), Tejinder Tatla (44), Dinesh Kumar (24), and Rukhsar Achakzai (21), face multiple charges, including extortion and fraud. Police have also seized four weapons in connection with the case.
Rukhsar Achakzai, a Brampton resident and a popular figure on social media, was arrested on July 30, 2024, for incidents dating back to September 2023.
She has been charged with extortion and fraud involving less than $5,000. Following her arrest, Achakzai appeared for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton and was released under court-imposed conditions.
Achakzai’s social media prominence stems from her use of the phrase “Hanji Ki Chahida,” widely recognized and adopted by many in Punjab for advertisements and video content online.
Authorities continue to investigate the incidents and have urged the public to report any related information.
