Canadian PM Justin Trudeau resigns as Liberal Party leader

Toronto: Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, 53, announced his resignation as leader of the ruling Liberal Party on Monday, calling for the party to elect a new leader.

Speaking outside his official residence, Trudeau stated he would remain in office until his successor is chosen.
