Enroute to US: Pathankot’s youth goes missing in Panama, FIR against agents

Chandigarh: Lured by the promise of realizing his American dreams by paying Rs 45 lakh, Jagmeet Singh, a 26-year-old from Pathankot, Punjab, lost in the forest of Panama.

Despite assurances of a direct flight, he was instead directed through the Dunki route, a notorious path where unscrupulous agents compel individuals to traverse mountains and marshy roads towards the US border over several days.

On December 19, Jagmeet sent his location, marking the last communication with his family, pinpointing him in the forest of Panama.

Pathankot police have initiated a criminal case against Parminder Singh and Balwinder Kaur, a travel agent couple from Kahnuwan, based on the complaint filed by Joginder Singh, Jagmeet’s father.

The complaint alleges that Jagmeet’s parents were promised a direct flight to the US, but he was coerced into the Dunki route at the last moment.
