Eric Garcetti to be US Ambassador to India

Washington: Eric Garcetti, a close aide of US President Joe Biden, will be the US Ambassador to India. His nomination has been confirmed by the Senate.

The post has been lying vacant in India for nearly two years. The Senate confirmed the nomination with 52 votes to 42.
Three Democratic members did not support Garcetti, although seven members of the Republican Party supported it, making the nomination confirmation possible.
