Former Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina booked for murder

Dhaka: Bangladesh’s ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina and six others have been charged with murder over the death of a grocery store owner during violent clashes last month. This information has been revealed through media reports on Tuesday.

The case was registered by a close aide of grocery shop owner Abu Sayeed, who was killed in police firing during a procession in Mohammadpur, according to a local news report.

Awami League general secretary Obaidul Qader, former interior minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and former inspector general of police Chaudhry Abdullah Al Mamun have also been named in the case.

According to the report, apart from these, many top police officers and government officials have been made accused in the case.
