Former US President Jimmy Carter dies at 100
Washington: Jimmy Carter, the 39th President of the United States, has passed away at the age of 100. The Carter Center announced his death in a statement on Sunday, confirming that he was at his home in Plains, Georgia, during his final moments.
Carter, the longest-lived president in U.S. history, leaves behind a legacy of championing human rights and serving humanity, despite facing significant criticism during his presidency.
President Joe Biden paid tribute to Carter, calling him a “dear friend” and an “extraordinary leader” in a heartfelt statement. Former President Donald Trump also extended his condolences, stating that Americans owe Carter a “debt of gratitude.”
Preparations are currently underway for Carter’s funeral, which will include state honors.
