Heathrow Airport closed for a day after fire at electric substation

London: London’s Heathrow Airport was closed for a day on Friday after a fire broke out at an electric substation near the airport, leading to a power shutdown.

The disruption affected flights worldwide, with more than 1,350 arrivals canceled.

Flights scheduled to land at Heathrow were either canceled or diverted to nearby airports, while departures were also halted.

Authorities have not yet provided a timeline for full restoration, and further delays are expected.
