Heathrow Airport resumes operations after fire, disruption to continue

London: London’s Heathrow Airport announced on Saturday that air traffic had been fully restored after a fire at a power substation led to a day-long suspension of flights.

However, airlines warned that severe disruptions would persist for several days as they work to reposition planes, reassign crew, and transport stranded passengers.

The incident has raised concerns among passengers, airlines, and politicians, who are seeking answers on how a fire—believed to be accidental—could shut down Europe’s busiest airport.

“We have hundreds of additional staff and officers at our terminals and have added flights to today’s schedule to accommodate 10,000 additional passengers,” Heathrow said in a statement.
